King & Queen ContestThe Portland Area Chamber of Commerce sponsors the Independence Day King & Queen pageant, where deserving Portland High School and St. Patrick's High School students are nominated, and the King and Queen are chosen by the amount of money that is raised on their behalf at various locations around town. The King and Queen each receive $100 in prize money, and the balance of the money raised goes to expenses for the contest, 15% to the Fireworks Fund, and the balance is a fundraiser for the Chamber.
